It is located 9 km. from Pucón. Volcano 2,847 meters high , it is active and its crater is only 200 meters high. in diameter, it has a 1,250oC lava lake with permanent fumaroles and is covered by an extensive 40 km2 glacier. 59 historical eruptions have been registered and the largest of this century were in the years 1908, 1920, 1948, 1949, 1963, 1971 and 1984-85.
This volcano is recognized as one of the main tourist attractions in Pucón because it is one of the few active volcanoes in the world to which you can climb up to the crater throughout the year.
It also has a ski center located at 1,400 meters high and is the busiest in the Araucanía region.
It has a complete sports infrastructure with 16 slopes for skiers of all levels and seven lifts, as well as food centers and places to rent equipment.
